Endorsements for the 2011 City Council Election The Metro Pulse
The Knoxville News Sentinel
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel:
"City Council, At-Large Seat C: Finbarr Saunders, a former Knox County Commissioner, would bring a long record of experience to the panel. In addition to his service as commissioner, Saunders is a retired banker whose knowledge in finance would be invaluable to City Council.
Saunders is a thoughtful man who deploys keen insight into issues. As a consensus-builder, he will be a calming influence during contentious debates over such issues as steep-slope development and housing for the homeless."

The Knoxville News Sentinel endorses Finbarr. . . “… the 65-year-old Saunders has a background in finance, having previously managed an accounting firm and [served] as a vice president for two banks. "Finbarr Saunders has been actively involved in West Knoxville, Bearden and Westwood community groups and homeowner organizations for many years and those experiences will help him with constituent service... He plans to work for better coordination between neighborhoods and developers. We also like his approach to make county government more accessible to ordinary citizens."
"Our only criteria was to support candidates we were convinced would work to improve the quality and effectiveness of local government."
Frank Cagle of The Metro Pulse says. . .
"Saunders, who has a lot of Republican friends, would be a strong general election candidate against the Republican nominee."
